Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at DHS – Update April 6th, 2019

With an opening date in WDW of August 29th, 2019, work is progressing at a blistering pace. Most of the work seems to be shifting to the hardscape and walking surfaces. The Millennium Falcon is completed and in place. The standby queue for Rise of the Resistance is nearly complete with work shifting to the fast pass queue as the writing of this post. I took extensive photos of the site from several elevations. I used those images to reconstruct a 3D model of the construction site which you can explore. I recommend getting down at the ground level to check out site-lines. This model is VR ready as well and hosted by our friends over at Sketchfab.

The 3D model is a low resolution version of the model I created. It’s less than 1 million faces. The original model is over 50 million faces. Hoping to gain access to Sketchfab Massive. If so, I’ll post a much higher resolution version of this and other models there.

Below the model link find several of the over 1200 images I took of the site the morning of April 6th. I’ll be posting more images and details over the coming days. Most of these will be posted directly to Instagram and Twitter. To get those updates follow me @revimagineering

Thanks and hope you enjoy!
